Holy Bible (1619)

This beautifully bound King James bible, which also contains, as is common, a Book of Common Prayer, a Book of Psalms, and a genealogy of scripture, must have been a prized possession, given its velvet binding and metal clasps.

It contains evidence of ownership by three women: Elizabeth Maslen Cawood (died 1771), H. Maslen Cawood, and her aunt, who gave it to her, Elenor Perkins.

The book must have stayed in the family for a long time, as a modern note with provenance information indicates.
